23 On Appreciating Deeper Processes - On Intimacy

EXPERIENCE has taught us that intimacy is difficult because we expect it and want it right away.
Most of us seek instant intimacy.
Sex, the best/worst example of instant intimacy, is the instant gratification for intimacy-seeking souls.  It is thought to be the elixir of life, that magic potion that will mood-alter us into unimagined ports of call and happiness and well-being.
Too bad it doesn’t work that way.
Sex, courtship, and infatuation all contain elements of feeling intimate, but they are not intimacy, and they are not magical.  They, in and of themselves, will not provide either happiness or a sense of well-being.  Some folks don’t know this, and some do, but refuse to want to believe that it might be true.

Too Much, Too Soon
Too Fast, Too Inflexible
Too Demanding
Can Damage The Possibilities Of Intimacy.

22 On Appreciating Deeper Processes - On Accepting

EXPERIENCE has taught us that when we refuse to either see or accept this “all for one, one for all” principle, we are indulging in a shadow play of metaphors that generally has little to do with the here and now.
Usually, this facet of life is/was created by our imagination to explain away things that can’t be seen in the here and now, but can now be deeply felt.  That’s why both Eriksson and Jung suggest that we have gone to sleep or that we have slipped into a trance-like state (generally between the ages of 18 months and 5 years of age), because in the now of our life we are simply following invisible forces that have their roots some place other than Right Here, Right Now.  This is why recovery is often likened to awakening and beginning to see life as it is, not as it was imagined to be.
As we come to understand that we have nothing to fear from our humanity, we will become grateful to be connected to life and to humanity, and to no longer be estranged from it.

The Choice “To Be Willing” Is Yours.

20 On Appreciating Deeper Processes - On Perception

EXPERIENCE has taught us that true invulnerability comes when we are willing to allow and acknowledge the presence of our own humanity as it is expressed in and by others.
This means it’s okay for others to be exactly as they are and for us to be exactly as we are and it is important for us to acknowledge everyone else’s place in the universe as real and necessary.
After all, they are part of the plan too.

Oddly Enough,
As I Extend This Thought To Encompass Others,
It Encompasses Me As A Truth Too.
