EXPERIENCE has taught us that
when we refuse to either see or accept this “all for one, one for all”
principle, we are indulging in a shadow play of metaphors that generally has
little to do with the here and now.
Usually, this facet of life is/was created by our
imagination to explain away things that can’t be seen in the here and now, but
can now be deeply felt. That’s why both
Eriksson and Jung suggest that we have gone to sleep or that we have slipped
into a trance-like state (generally between the ages of 18 months and 5 years of
age), because in the now of our life we are simply following invisible forces
that have their roots some place other than Right Here, Right Now. This is why recovery is often likened to
awakening and beginning to see life as it is, not as it was imagined to
be.
As
we come to understand that we have nothing to fear from our humanity, we will
become grateful to be connected to life and to humanity, and to no longer be
estranged from it.
